New!

Salamba Sirsasana- Head Balance Pose-a 12 Week Series

Introducing a new 12 part series of 1.5 hour classes leading to independent Salamba Sirsasana (the head stand).

In this series of classes we will focus on strengthening the core muscles needed and alignment principles required to preform Salamba Sirsasana courageously/comfortably in the center of the room.

To learn the inverted postures one has to lessen the fear complex of being upside down so we will also learn poses that prepare the mind and emotions. The standing asanas and twists prepare the musculo skeletal body for the inversions while the standing and sitting forward extensions prepare one physically as well as mentally so that adverse effects can be avoided.

This 12 part series is suitable for those who have a regular yoga practice for at least 6 months and are comfortable in Salamba Sarvangasana (the shoulder stand).

This course is being offered by planetyoga.ca and taught by certified Iyengar yoga instructor Tim Ruddy.

Course starts Saturday April 21-July14 9:30am. No class on May 12th. Fee is $180.00 payable in 2 installments. * Once a month the class will be held on Sunday.

Neck & Shoulders Workshop

Sunday Oct 23 10:00-12:30. $50.00

Earlybird Price paid before Oct 15 $40.00.

Location: 780 St. Remi #153 in St. Henri, Montreal

The neck is not a weight bearing part of the body, the shoulders are ball and socket joints, two vulnerable areas of the body, yet what do we do to protect and how do we treat these areas of the body? Can we aid the repair of these areas through a deeper understanding of the yoga poses? Can we expedite the healing process to these areas by performing modified yogasanas? The answer is yes. Through experience of teaching yoga I have witnessed students healing and repairing these problematic areas. In this workshop you wiill be guided through a series of yogasanas not only to aid the healing process but also to decongest these areas. In this way this workshop will be valuable to both people with problematic neck & shoulders and others who would like to free up and prevent these areas from becoming problematic. In this workshop led by certified Iyengar yoga instructor Tim Ruddy we will unlock, clear up, free up and mobilise these crucial areas of the human anatomy. Register by sending a cheque to Tim Ruddy, or through interac email money transfer send the payment to ruddytim@hotmail.com or through PayPal by sending the fee to tim@progressiveyoga.com. Once payment has been received you will receive a confirmation email.

Cancellation & Refund Policy:

A full refund is available if you cancel one full week before the workshop begins after that there is no refund.

Some comments from the participants on the workshop:

Thank you so much for this fabulous workshop, it has definitely helped me to relieve the pain and the tension I have been feeling in my neck and shoulders. It also made me aware that I can do simple exercises at home to help prevent further discomfort in this area of the body. I would highly recommend this workshop to anyone and especially to those whose daily work consist of repetitive action, such as clicking on a keyboard in front of a screen.

Best,
Véronique

I preferred the second (more intimate and relaxed) workshop………the time really flew by. Who would've thought there were so many different asanas for neck and shoulders……….
Are you planning on scheduling another? J
Cheers,
Elizabeth

Your workshop was extremely helpful for relieving the tightness in my shoulders and for improving my posture. I think that the length of the workshop is perfect for really opening up the chest and loosening all the muscles around the neck, shoulders and even the entire back. The props are fantastic and you took time time to help us adjust for almost every posture. If you were to offer this workshop once a month, I would be interested.
thanks!!
Jessica

"What I appreciate the most from Tim's teaching is the intelligence with which he creates his sequences. Each posture is carefully chosen in order that the student will progress gradually and accurately towards the fullest expression of the sequence's principle focus. Today it was all about opening up our Neck and Shoulders. Which we did! Thank you Tim".

Paul

Yesterdays's Neck & Shoulders workshop was all about shoulder and neck pain relief.
The instructions were clear and concise, the sequence well planned, pace steady atmosphere relaxed and friendly which made the time fly. I'm looking forward to seeing what comes next.
